My name is Dov Avnon, born in Israel and the last 40 years I am living in the Netherlands. RodentWatch.online is part of ExcellVision – smart outdoor intrusion detection.

People's smart video detection or rodents smart video detection is about remote monitoring and smart detection.

RodentWatch.online

In 2017 we developed RodentWatch online. It is a web portal that can manage multiple ‘pest cameras’. We capture event images, store them in the cloud and use this data to make a short video clip.

Customers can search events based on cameras, locations, dates, etc, and it is possible to download the video clips.

There are advantages for the professional pest control inspector if the recording material is centralized in the cloud and not only on the SD card of the ‘pest cameras’.

Pest cameras - hunting cameras

Most pest control professionals already use all kinds of pest cameras, mostly based on hunting cameras made in China.  Nowadays, there are also different kinds of battery-powered cameras for the consumer market that can be some time useful.

A pest camera works for a long time on battery but has some other limitations. Mice or rats are not tigers or elephants. Mice detection is within a distance of 1-3 meters. This means that it is not always clear where mice come from. However, pest cameras are still a useful tool.

RodentWatch cameras – IP cameras

Rodentwatch cameras are IP-based cameras. We are using the latest technology in the market and have full integration with brands like Hikvision or Dahua.

There are different benefits of using IP cameras for rodent detection:

1-   Large area and accurate detection.

2-   Size filtering for crowded areas.

3-   Real-time video.

We selected different types of IP cameras that we assume will be suitable for the pest control branch.

IP cameras are more expensive and need some configuration knowledge. We are using 4G routers in our VPN network. We can power the cameras with 220-volt or 12-volt Lithium batteries (not included).
